Deep Throat

Deep Throat - Linda Lovelace stars in the original 1972 classic x rated adult movie. Deep Throat was a watershed event in American cinema reaching a general audience unlike any other adult movie since. It was one of the first adult films to include a plot, character development and Hollywood-type production standards including a soundtrack album released that same year. The term "Deep Throat" became a cultural buzzword as the movie inspired the nickname of a government informant during the Watergate political scandal that brought down then president Nixon.

The movie was banned in many countries and spurred a number of obscenity prosecutions across the United States. Recent documents released by the government indicated a serious campaign by high ranking FBI officials to stop any screenings of the film. Lead actor Harry Reems was eventually indicted for his role in the movie, the first time an actor was ever tried for obscenity by the government. (Linda Lovelace and director Gerard Damiano were granted immunity for their testimony.)

Deep Throat was released to rave reviews and premiered at The World Theater in New York City on June 12, 1972.

Deep Throat is a comedic tale of a young and beautiful lady who is sexually frustrated. In an attempt to get more out of sex than a lot of little tingles she teams up with a young, kookie and very horny physician who discovers that her clitoris is in her throat. With this new information, she goes on a quest to discover how far a girl has to go to untangle her tingle.

Let's go back in time to when hair was big, porn stars still had pubic hair and before "deep throating" was a household term. This movie, although a classic now, was quite edgy when it first came out, and I can certainly see why. Between poor Linda Lovelace who has her clitoris in the back of her throat, and her doctor who was probably in inspiration for the absent-minded professor, this movie is a little kooky, but full of fun. It's definitely a movie worth watching, if only for the trip in time. The sex is real and hot, and the plot is hilarious, as this is from back when adult entertainment was almost exclusively features that had plots, and sex thrown in. A fun time for everyone, and it's interesting to see where the concept of "Deep Throat" really originated. -Essin' Em

If you are a porn fan this is a must-see if only once if you can make it past all the goofy nonsense and "plot". It is nonetheless a classic & the first I had the pleasure of self pleasure when I was young as my parents weren't too smart or careful when it came to keeping their copy hidden in their bedroom when they were at work. As I revisit from time to time as well as explore the relatively limited works of the young Linda Lovelace, I think it's a real shame that no director really gave thought to exploiting Linda's stunning beauty & body (other than exploting her outright as she claimed) and never filmed what I feel to be a real nice screwing scene - just a good ole lay-the-pipe-to-her-doggystyle-and-let -us-see-her-on-all-fours-and-writhing-around-til-climax-with-no-long-assed-close-ups-and-other-distracting-crap scene. In Deep Throat, it is of course mostly about the BJ & psychedelic music & herky-jerky cut-aways & rockets & tingles etc. I feel piss-poor film editing and just as bad or worse thought-out actor-actress positioning (or whatever sex pairing) has since propogated & lingered throughout all of porn in general - bunch of lazy, unaccountable fuckers mostly. That aside, this is again a must-see as it opened the flood gates to the current supersaturated state of porn that we enjoy today.Thank you, Linda & all the funding scumbags of Deep Throat - that is, if they didn't hurt you & you weren't lying or nuts but either way RIP. Linda does indeed get plowed pretty good in the first quarter of the movie. I say just let it run and once you see her scary & hairy looking friend getting eaten out and then later checking off guys' names on a clipboard you are near the gravy (start on scene two if you must). Camera work is shit and destroys what would have been an awesome scene but it's still worthwhile. And further, I think it demonstrated the f-skill potential of lovely Linda and the basis of my bitching above.
